The University of Cincinnati, Career Development Center DRTI program will be held on August 4, 2009, at the Duke Energy Convention Center located on 525 Elm Street in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The U.S. population and labor force are increasingly diverse.  Progressive organizations now understand that diversity fuels outreach to new consumer markets, which in turn fuels innovation and sustained business growth.  The high-stakes global race for talent has elevated the importance of effective diversity recruiting and retention to a clear business mandate, among progressive organization

 

Competition for the “best and brightest” is keen.  Winning the race for diverse talent must be strategic and intentional, especially given the “experience drain” predicted to hit the US workforce before the end of this decade.  Building relationships with diverse college students is absolutely essential to successful diversity recruiting and retention.

DRTI 2009 offers new and experienced recruiters, and college and community partners, the opportunity to hone their skills in the afternoon informational and training sessions. Sessions will be repeated so that participants have an opportunity to attend two of three sessions. 

Workshop A

Presentation:  The Revolving Door of Recruiting and Retention   

Despite good intentions and aggressive hiring efforts, too many organizations continue to have an invisible revolving door that, at best, is able to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds, but cannot keep them.  Having worked with over 250 of the Fortune 500 companies since 1976, this workshop will offer insights into the challenges of recruiting and retaining diverse candidates based on research over the last 33 years.  Presentation will address:
