On February 10, 2010, the University of Cincinnati sponsored a symposium for its cooperative education employers. Cooperative education or co-op is the practice wherein students alternate quarters or semesters in the classroom with quarters or semesters of paid, professional work related directly to their majors. UC is the global founder of co-op, having invented the practice in 1906. One of the topics at the symposium was semester conversion. UC will convert to semesters in August 2012.
