Colorful, Momentous Design

During the final weeks of my Co-Op, I was invited to take part in a design charette for a children’s hospice in Kuwait. We had to discuss and understand the differences in Kuwaiti culture and ours to create a poignant and meaningful space for the ill children and their families. I later was invited to join the small team of interior designers and architects working on the facility. My work on the project included designing a massive, colorful playroom. It was a child’s dream space: complete with iPod listening stations, ramps, clubhouses, & secret hide-aways. It was a moving experience to be aware that the hospice would be able to make a sad and difficult process much more bearable for the children. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had.
