GM Powertrain Flint North

I worked at GM Powertrain Flint North over the summer where the students co-op students were able to take part in some cool activities. To start we went to the Renaissance Center, GM world headquarters, where we got to see how the OnStar and XM satellite radio systems work. We also had lunch at the Hard Rock and tried to make a baseball game, but the weather had other plans. Another activity was working at a ride and drive open to the public. Technically it was working, but when there was down time with the crowd we were able to take some cars out for a drive too. Who wouldn't like a free drive in a Solstice GXP, a Cadillac XLR, or a Corvette? Not me! The co-op students also took a trip to the Performance Build Center where the LS7 engine for the Corvette and Northstar V8 SC for the STS-V/XLR-V are hand built. The best perk was the trip we took to tour the Milford proving grounds. I got to see some cool project cars, new or redesigned cars not yet released, some cars not available in the U.S., and we were driven around on the proving ground roads/tracks to see how the cars are tested. I know one place where I would like to work in the future. I can't wait to see what my next co-op has in store!
