Designing for Old Navy Girls
|
|
I interned at Old Navy’s headquarters in San Francisco for the summer quarter of 2007. There, I worked as a designer for girl’s woven bottoms. My boss was amazing and taught me all about being a designer in the fast paced fashion industry. While at my job, I was able to see and perform the design process from start to finish. My long term project was to design items to go into the stores for February and March of 2008. By the second week of work, I was shopping boutiques and stores for trend inspiration—every design intern’s dream! Then I sketched designs which were reviewed by my boss and the head merchandiser of our division. After they chose which designs to go forward with, I worked with the technical designers to determine measurements for my designs. Then, during my final week, samples of my designs were made and sent to my department to be reviewed again. After a lot of hard, but fun work, my designs will be featured in Old Navy stores everywhere, starting in February and March of 2008, which is why I consider my co-op to be the coolest!
