Celebrities Wear Clothes Too

I wanted to learn about working for a small, privately-owned fashion line, so I spent one co-op working for Jaime Pressly, the Emmy awarding-winning actress of the television show 'My Name is Earl.' Primarily, my responsibilities included interning for her clothing line 'J'aime by Jaime Pressly.' The fashion company was composed of five people including myself. As with any small company, each person wore a lot of hats. I was able to be really involved with designing and producing the entire line. I learned so much about the Los Angeles fashion district. Traveling to sewers, patternmakers, showrooms and mills were all in a day's work. I also helped to create and send out press packages, and a responsibility that I really enjoyed was handling all of Jaime Pressly's fan mail. Much of it was quite humorous! In addition to assisting with the fashion line, I was also very involved in various everyday tasks for Jaime herself. I even had a set of keys to her house! Sometimes I had to drop off outfits for Jaime, deliver packages to her manager, send out flowers from her, and once I had to pose her dog for a photo shoot for In Style magazine. It was great to experience the influx of the fashion industry with the entertainment industry. To top off the entire experience, our design team flew to Atlanta, Georgia to do a fashion show. It was a whirlwind weekend filled with group dinners totaling $1500 each night, traveling with bodyguards, fitting and casting models, styling outfits and partying with Jaime Pressly as only VIPs could. I worked alongside stylists, make-up artists, hairstylists and designers to create a dazzling fashion show. It was such an amazing experience that I'll never forget!
