CONTEST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Can I change my submission after December 31, 2007?

  • You have a small window of opportunity to modify submissions started before the submission deadline of December 31, 2007. If you’ve already started a submission before the deadline, you can finish it before January 8, 2008 and submit it for approval. Please make sure that you submit a title, descriptive paragraph answering the question “Why is your co-op cool?” and at least one photo with a caption.

How will I know if I’ve won?

  • Contest voting ends on January 25, 2008. We will contact all winners via email or telephone by Friday, February 8, 2008. At that time, we will give you information on the celebration event and how to pick up your prize.

What happens to the winners?

  • Each winner will receive a gift worth at least $100 (examples include digital cameras, iPod shuffles, gift cards, etc.) We’re also planning a great celebration event to be held in February 2008.

What if I don't see my entry under "View Current Submissions"?

  • Don’t fret, we haven’t lost your submission! Only those submissions that have been approved by the contest committee will be posted. Your submission may not yet be approved by the committee. To make sure that you actually submitted, please log in again and double-check that you finalized your submission.

What if I don't have a picture of me on co-op?

  • Then take one! In fact, your employer may even have suggestions about photos or even bring in the company photographer to take a professional photograph. If you’re already back in school, it’s not too late. Take a picture of yourself on campus wearing the company logo on your shirt. Even a simple photograph of your face will work for us.

What if I just sit at a computer and don't have an interesting picture of me on the job?

  • Get creative. Take a picture of yourself with the company’s product. Take a picture of yourself in front of the company’s sign. Take a picture of yourself socializing with new friends or in front of interesting landmarks in the city. Remember, the photo is supposed to illustrate your submission so have fun with it but please remember that any off-color photos will not be approved by the committee.

What if I don't have a digital photo or a digital camera?

  • You can have a regular photo scanned and converted to a digital format at the computer lab on the 6th floor of the Steger Student Life Center.

What if I don't understand digital file formats?

  • One of the best places on campus to go for help is the computer lab on the 6th floor of the Steger Student Life Center. They’ve got all the equipment you’ll need and are happy to help you. They even have long operating hours to accommodate student schedules.

What if I don't like to write?

  • We can’t fix everything for you—you’ve got to write something! You’re only required to submit a maximum of 300 words. There is no minimum number of words required however this is a competition so you don’t want to sell yourself short by not giving enough information on why your co-op was cool. If possible, pick a friend that likes to write and get his/her help. By the way, you’ve just read 84 words so triple this and you’re at the maximum!

What if I want to change my submission?

  • You will be able to edit your submission as many times as you’d like, until you decide to officially submit it for committee approval. Once your entry has been approved by the committee it becomes an official submission and can no longer be changed.

Why should I bother, my co-op's in town and other students are traveling the globe?

  • So maybe you don’t have a shot at winning in the Cool Places category but there are three other categories! We guarantee a winner in every category and in every college. This contest is about showcasing all the great co-op stories and every college has some that need to be shared.

How are the winners determined?

  • Voters can vote online between January 14, 2008 and January 25, 2008. Any member of the public who would like to vote can do so. Voters can include co-op employers, students, faculty and staff, etc.

How do I find out if I’m a winner?

  • We will notify each of the winners by February 8, 2008 and tell you more about the celebration event and where to pick up your prize. We will announce all winners to the world by February 29, 2008.
