2ND ANNUAL UCCI SUMMER INSTITUTE

The University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute will be offering three training sessions on the Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse Treatment curriculum. This year’s Summer Institute will take place at the University of Cincinnati May 20 - 24th, 2013. Please see below for more details.

Summer 2013 Course Offerings:

Session #1: Intro to COG/CBI-SA
This course will provide a two day introduction to cognitive behavioral interventions, followed by three days  on application with substance abuse population in the criminal justice system. At the end of the course, trainees will have a better
understanding of the cognitive behavioral model and be certified to facilitate the UCCI’s CBI-SA curriculum.


Session #2: Intro to MI/T4C
This course will provide a one day intro to
motivational interviewing techniques, followed by four days of training in the National Institute of Corrections Thinking for a Change program. At the end of the course, trainees will have a better
understanding of motivational interviewing, and be certified to facilitate the Thinking for a Change curriculum.


Session #3: CBI-SA (TT)/QA*
This course is designed to certify trainers to train others on the Cognitive Behavioral Interventions in Substance Abuse curriculum developed by UCCI, and provide the opportunity for optimal quality assurance for the trainees. At the end of the course, trainees who pass a certification test will be qualified to begin teaching the end-user CBI-SA curriculum to other employees of their department or agency.



*Please note that registration for this course requires proof of attending the initial 3-day CBI-SA course and the facilitation of at least one full cycle of the CBI-SA curriculum.

Registration includes five days of training, five days of catered lunch, catered reception on Monday evening and catered dinner on Thursday evening.
