Dr. F. Robert Wilson, Professor of Counseling, University of Cincinnati , and Counselor/Supervisor at the Health Resource Center of Cincinnati, was recently honored by the American Counseling Association as an ACA Fellow.  Fellows are ACA members of professional distinction who have been recognized for significant and unique contributions in professional practice, scientific achievement and governance, or teaching and training, and have made important contributions to the counseling profession.  The honor was presented at ACA's annual convention in Honolulu , HI .           

           

Dr. Wilson is noted for his high achievements as a practitioner, a teacher, a leader and a scholar, his greatest passion is for providing service to indigent and homeless persons with serious mental illness.  This passion has led him to donate 10 hours per week of pro bono service to a multidisciplinary inner-city Cincinnati clinic where he provides direct client services.  He has conducted research studies with those consumers to identify personal and environmental barriers to recovery and employment – studies which have been used in advocacy campaigns at the local and state level.  In 2004, the Ohio Counseling Association honored him for this work with their “Counselor of the Year Award” and in 2006, the American Mental Health Counselors Association presented him with their national "Public and Community Service Award."
