Medical Assisting Services: Medical Billing Technology

What is Medical Assisting Services: Medical Billing Technology ?

The medical billing technology certificate is designed to teach students how to process insurance forms, assign medical codes and manage databases and medical billing computer software.

Emphasis is placed on medical terminology and anatomy and the proper use of ICD-9, CPT codes, HCPCS, Medicare and other government, private, self-insurance and managed-care plans.

  Success Factors

Professionals working in this area of health care must be detail-oriented and work independently. Employers prefer that employees have college course work so they understand the terminology, insurance and coding intricacies of the industry.

  Career Possibilities

The program prepares students to work in hospitals, physicians' offices, health care facilities or billing agencies, and to develop private billing services.

Majoring in Medical Assisting Services: Medical Billing Technology
