Sectional Imaging in Radiation Science
What is Sectional Imaging in Radiation Science ?
Sectional imaging is a one-year certificate program that focuses on computed tomography or CT. In CT, the computer processes information that is collected as an X-ray beam is rotated around the patient. The images created are termed cross-sectional and demonstrate the internal structures of the body as in an image analogous to a slice.
Success Factors
Students entering this program must be registered in radiography or radiation therapy. Successful professionals must want to help others, be able work as part of a team, possess good verbal and nonverbal communication skills, and have a professional demeanor.
Career Possibilities
CT images are used for diagnosis of many diseases, including cancer, and are utilized in radiation therapy treatment planning. Career opportunities are available in specialized positions associated with acquiring and manipulating these images.
Majoring in Sectional Imaging in Radiation Science
This certificate is designed to provide registered radiographers and radiation therapists with experience and knowledge of aspects of computed tomography and other sectional imaging modalities as they apply to diagnosis and treatment. Students will be exposed to advanced technical and patient care skills associated with sectional imaging. Internships are designed to provide students with practical skills.
