CISCO Networking
What is CISCO Networking?
Computer network systems support involves the design, installation and support of an organization’s local-area network (LAN), wide-area network (WAN), network segment, Internet or intranet.
People who work in network system support maintain network hardware and software, analyze problems and monitor the network to ensure its availability to system users. Network support personnel also gather data to identify customer needs and then use the information to identify, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements. Network administrators also may plan, coordinate and implement network security measures.
Success Factors
You should have strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills. You especially need the ability to view things as interactive, whole systems. You should also be able to anticipate future problems and plan responses accordingly.
Career Possibilities
The CISCO certificate program should enable you to complete the CISCO networking certification testing. Professional certification will improve your pursuit of the following employment opportunities:
- network administrator
- network support technician
- technical service representative
- customer support representative
Majoring in CISCO Networking
Majors and minors do not apply to certificate programs. However, credits earned can be applied toward an associate degree in computer network systems if you later decide to complete your degree.
Many students choose to add a certificate in a field other than their major in order to broaden their job skills. See your academic advisor if you are adding this certificate to your associate degree program.
This certificate can only be pursued as part-time study. Required courses are sequential and must be started in the fall. Please see an advisor before beginning any certificate program. (Call 513-732-5319 to make an appointment.)
Minoring in CISCO Networking
Majors and minors do not apply to certificate programs. However, many credits earned can be applied toward your associate degree if you later decide to complete one. How many credits apply depends on what major you select for your degree. See your academic advisor if you are considering completing an associate degree. (Call 513-732-5319 to make an advising appointment.)

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities
The Clermont College campus is on 92 wooded acres located in Batavia, Ohio, in the heart of Clermont County. We are relatively small and our faculty-to-student ratio is low. You will find our small class size and personal interaction with your instructors create the ideal learning environment. Parking is convenient and at no additional charge. Plus, our tuition is the lowest of the UC colleges.
To obtain CCNA certification, you may take either a two-exam option (exam 1 covers CCNA 1 and 2; exam 2 covers CCNA 3 and 4) or a one-exam option that covers CCNA 1 through 4. CCNP certification is acquired by completing four exams (CCNP 1,2,3 and 4). As you successfully complete each exam, you earn a certificate which is a nationally recognized statement of proficiency issued by Cisco Systems, Inc.
