To participate in online programs students will need a computer system with current specifications. Students are encouraged to visit their distance learning program information/website for recommended system requirements as hardware and software requirements vary by program. The Blackboard Support website provides additional assistance regarding system requirements. Distance learners may purchase UC-licensed software through the UC Bookstore Computer Department.
In general, technical requirements include the following.

- 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel i5 processor or faster
- 4 GB RAM
- 500Gb HD
- DVD-RW drive
- Video card with 256Mb of memory or more
- Monitor that supports 1280x1024 resolution or higher
- Broadband connection (i.e., DSL or cable modem that supports 1Mbps or higher)
Ideal Hardware (PC)
- 2.7GHz quad-core Intel i7 processor or faster
- 8 GB RAM
- 1Tb 7200 RPM drive
- DVD-RW drive
- Fast broadband connection (i.e., DSL or cable modem that supports 10Mbps or higher)
- Single or dual monitors that support 1920x1080 resolution or higher
Basic Mac System Requirements
- iMac or Mac mini with 2.5Ghz dual-core Intel i5 processor or faster
- 8 GB RAM
- 1Tb 7200 RPM drive
- 8x SuperDrive
- Monitor that supports 1280x1024 resolution or higher
- Broadband connection (i.e., DSL or cable modem that supports 1Mbps or higher)
