Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping
- Ability to store, process, manipulate, and display geographically referenced data; data can be visualized to reveal patterns, relationships, and insights that could be overlooked using traditional data analysis methods. Examples:
- A pin map of locations of child care facilities within a metropolitan area;
- A dot density map of reports of domestic violence by census tract for a city;
- A graduated color (choropleth) map of dentists per 1000 population for counties in a state.
