Color your plate with plenty of fruits and vegetables for better health

Strive for up to four cups of vegetables and two and a half cups of fruit every day.

Make half your grains whole.
Include calcium-rich foods.
Go lean on the protein.
Know the limits on fats, sugars, and salt (sodium).
Avoid trans fats.  (Read food labels.)
Find balance between food and physical activity.

To build your own personal pyramid, the United States Department of Agriculture developed the MyPyramid food guidance system. This system provides many options to help Americans make healthy food choices and to be active every day.

Carolyn Nickol, RD, LD, MEd provides nutritional counseling, focusing on healthy eating for lifelong health.  Areas of specialty include:  Weight Management, Sports Nutrition, and Disordered Eating. In addition, Carolyn serves as a preceptor for dietetic students enrolled in the University of Cincinnati Coordinated Program in Dietetics, College of Allied Health Sciences.

Carolyn provides nutritional counseling for the UC Department of Athletics, the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Cincinnati, as well as to the surrounding community.

One-half hour follow-ups $35
