New Year, New Dining Options

New food options opening in Tangeman University Center based on results of campus-wide surveys.

University Dining Services is introducing new dining options for fall 2009.  In the Tangeman University Center food court, Burger King and Chick-fil-A are opening with new store fronts and a wide variety of new offerings for campus. KumaNeko, which opened for a test run this summer, will continue its offerings of sushi and grab-and-go options.

Burger King, the second largest hamburger chain in the U.S., replaces Wendy’s restaurant and will continue the tradition of a national burger brand in TUC. The “Home of the Whopper” is backed by more than 50 years of experience serving high quality, great tasting, and affordable food around the world.

The addition of Chick-fil-A to the food court brings one of the most popular national chicken concepts to the UC campus. Rated an A- by Men’s Health in a recent article about America’s Healthiest Restaurants, Chick-fil-A boasts a lunch menu that has only two items over 500 calories.

KumaNeko, Japanese for “Bearcat”, now makes its home in the former Freshëns location in TUC. The sushi bar offers rice rolls prepared fresh daily or the sushi chef will prepare your custom order. The sushi and sashimi have a diverse selection of ingredients that may include fresh tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp, yellowtail and tofu along with vegetables such as avocado, cucumber, sprouts and carrots – making KumaNeko the perfect healthy stop for customers on a tight schedule.

In addition, Pizza Hut Express and Gold Star Chili in the TUC food court, and Subway and Starbucks in the Steger Student Life Center, will continue to offer the campus community a wide variety of dining options.

The award-winning dining centers have expanded services as well. This year, CenterCourt becomes the late night dining option on campus, with continuous service until midnight every day.  CenterCourt customers can still enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining with the full choice of stations from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and then continuing with the most popular stations until Midnight. StadiumView is offering both lunch and dinner service in an all-you-care-to-eat fashion every Monday through Friday during the academic term.  At StadiumView customers will enjoy their CenterCourt favorites in a café atmosphere during lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. MarketPointe remains open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
