College-Conservatory of Music Giving Initiatives

The University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music stands among the premiere institutions in the world for performing and media arts education. CCM's faculty and staff and its state-of-the-art facilities make possible the professional training and exceptional education on which the future of the arts relies.

CCM Challenges

The College-Conservatory of Music is deeply grateful for the support of its contributors, but is still in need of funding. Your gifts provide scholarships to the College’s outstanding students; support the efforts of the Friends of CCM through student competition travel, faculty projects and other awards; bolster departments within the College through premier faculty appointments, guest artists and master classes.

Funding Opportunities

Steinway Initiative

In October 2008, the College-Conservatory of Music acquired 165 Steinway pianos in the largest purchase of its kind in history. CCM joined an elite group of only nine conservatories around the world and became an “All Steinway” conservatory.

CCM is now seeking a gift of five million dollars to underwrite the cost of this historic piano purchase and to create an endowment to support a third piano technician for the college through which they can more fully protect this fundamental investment.

The College financed the pianos from several existing endowments in accord with the university in order to move forward with the purchase in a timely way. Every year of delay on the purchase would have pushed the purchase price to an additional $300,000 annually.

Undergraduate Scholarships

In order to attract the very best students to CCM, sustaining scholarship funds is critical. Without the best students, CCM would not be able to maintain its exceptional international reputation.

Endowed Chairs and Faculty Support

Exceptional students are attracted to CCM in part because the faculty themselves are national leaders in their fields. CCM seeks funding for endowed chairs and faculty support that can sustain its level of faculty prominence and continue to attract the world's preeminent scholars, performers and teachers.

Distinguished Artist-Scholar Endowment

CCM's graduates are performing around the globe and teaching at the world's best schools. CCM must bring these arts leaders and others back to campus to infuse our students' educational experience with a greater understanding of the world beyond college life.

Performance Sponsorships

CCM is the largest performing arts presenter in the state of Ohio. The College showcases nearly 1,000 recitals, concerts, plays, musicals, operas and lectures each year. The quality of presentation is so consistently high that the public has grown to expect professional-quality work. Audience devotion is strong, and younger audiences are constantly being tapped. The potential for public visibility and recognition for sponsorship of any of CCM’s prominent performing arts series is enormous.
