The Cincinnati Insurance Company Testing Center Opens at the University of Cincinnati

New center to employ 20 UC students each semester for insurance software testing

CINCINNATI – April 21, 2015 – The Cincinnati Insurance Company Testing Center has opened at the University of Cincinnati thanks to a partnership between Cincinnati Insurance, ProPEL, the UC Office of Planning + Design + Construction and the UC Foundation. The new center, housed in One Edwards Center, will employ 20 UC students each semester. While the center is focused on testing insurance software applications, students from any major may apply.

“The Cincinnati Insurance Companies are pleased to partner with the University of Cincinnati to create a learning environment for students interested in information technology and business,” said Ken Stecher, chairman of Cincinnati Insurance. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with UC and its talented students not only because lifelong learning is part of our corporate culture, but also because the university contributes to the success of local businesses and our community.”

“UC is the birthplace of the co-operative education, and I’m always proud when we are able to increase hands-on learning opportunities for our students,” said UC President Santa Ono. “Thank you to The Cincinnati Insurance Companies for recognizing the talent and strong work ethic of UC students. We look forward to working with you at the #HottestCollegeinAmerica.”

UC students employed at the center will work 20 hours per week and receive a competitive pay rate of $11 per hour. Graduating seniors employed by the center are also guaranteed an interview for a full-time position at Cincinnati Insurance’s Fairfield headquarters. Students will primarily test policy administration systems for the insurance industry including packages for commercial, personal and specialty uses.

“The Cincinnati Insurance Company Testing Center creates on-campus job opportunities that ultimately benefit UC, Cincinnati Insurance and UC students,” said John Kellington, senior vice president and chief information officer at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies. “The center assists our company in meeting a need to test systems under development, while UC provides real-world employment opportunities. UC students benefit by having a resume-building opportunity and flexible hours to work around classes without leaving campus.”

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies provide great support to UC and are a premier sponsor of the Carl H. Lindner III Center for Insurance and Risk Management at the UC Lindner College of Business.

“UC’s collaboration with Cincinnati Insurance is a great example of the positive impact corporate partnerships can have on the university, UC students and the community as a whole,” said Rodney Grabowski, UC Foundation president. “We are grateful for its investment in UC and our students.”
