Darrell Miller Visits Campus, Receives Kautz Alumni Award

CINCINNATI – Oct. 29, 2014 – The University of Cincinnati is proud to welcome accomplished CCM alumnus, Darrell Miller, '85 (Musical Theatre), back to campus in October, 2014 as an esteemed Kautz Alumni Master.

The Kautz Alumni Masters Forum was established with a gift from successful businessman, UC alumnus and donor, Jim Kautz, in 1999. His vision was to give students from various areas of study the opportunity to meet and interact with UC alumni who have reached the pinnacle of success in their careers. More than 50 prolific alumni from various professions have come back to campus in this capacity to share their wisdom, vision, and knowledge with UC students.

Miller is the managing partner of Fox Rothschild LLP’s Los Angeles offices and the chair of the firm’s Entertainment Law Department. He practices in the areas of film, television, music and new media. As a trusted advisor to many of Hollywood’s A-List celebrities and high profile brands, he has developed his practice around one fundamental principle: identify and counsel clients who seek to sustain their brands by creating multiple revenue streams.

Darrell is regularly approached by publications such as Los Angeles Business JournalThe American LawyerLos Angeles Daily JournalThe Atlanta Post,CNN.comESPN.com and MSNBC.com for commentary.

Darrell was inducted in the Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association’s Hall of Fame in 2007. He was also honored by the Foundation for Second Chances with its 2011 Service in Entertainment Leadership Award for his unwavering professional reputation as an entertainment attorney as well as for his philanthropic involvement with arts institutions.

Darrell is on the Board of Directors at the Music Center in Los Angeles, the Pasadena Playhouse and the Air Force Entertainment Liaison Board.  He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Past Member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee) and he is a member of the Grammy Recording Academy. He also released his first book earlier this year. 

While on UC's campus, Miller will visit master classes for musical theatre and drama students at CCM, along with student groups in the College of Law including entertaininment and sports law, intellectual property and the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati. 

On Friday, October 31, UC President Dr. Santa Ono will present Miller with a Kautz Alumni Award at the African American Cultural and Research Center from 2 – 3:30 p.m. The UC community is welcome to attend.
