UC Alumnus Brings Career to Alma Mater

Thomas Freeman joins UC Foundation as VP, Chief Financial Officer

CINCINNATI – Sept. 30, 2014 – Thomas Freeman’s career has officially come full-circle. The Carl H. Lindner College of Business graduate earned his MBA prior to serving as an adjunct assistant professor at UC. And on Oct. 7, he will return to his alma mater to serve as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the UC Foundation.

In his new role, Freeman will work closely with executive leadership to direct and oversee all financial operations of the organization.

“The thought of returning to my alma mater already has me energized,” said Freeman. “I am looking forward to diving head-first into my higher education roots in an even more engaged role where I can focus on supporting UC’s academic and research mission.”

Freeman will move into the Vice President and CFO position following the retirement of Bill Henrich, who held the role for 27 years. Freeman joins the foundation from Peck, Shaffer & Williams LLP where he held the position of Chief Operating Officer. He brings 25 years of leadership and finance experience with a broad spectrum of companies. Prior to his time at Peck, Shaffer & Williams LLP, he worked in the finance department of a marketing agency, an architectural design firm and a publishing house among others.

“I am pleased to have Tom as the newest member of the university advancement team,” said UC Foundation President, Rod Grabowski. “His experience and energy are sure to be instrumental to the foundation as we approach our Third Century.”

After graduating with his BSBA in Accounting from Xavier University, Freeman earned his MBA from UC. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Ohio and serves on the board of the local Association of Legal Administrators and is an active member of the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). He previously served as a National Board Member for FEI and was a past Chair of the FEI Research Foundation.
