CINCINNATI, October 22, 2009 – The University of Cincinnati Foundation Board of Trustees will name a new chair and several new trustees to its Board of Trustees at its semiannual meeting October 24, 2009.
Steven A. Wilson will be named as the as chair of the Board of Trustees, and will succeed Jeffrey L. Williams as chair. Wilson, a UC alumnus, is a member of the College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and former president of University of Cincinnati Athletic Team Scholarships (UCATS). In 2006, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Commercial Science from the university.
“I’m excited to come on board,” said Wilson. “I’ve definitely got some big shoes to fill with all Jeff has accomplished in the past few years. Under his leadership, UC kicked off successful public and regional launches of the Proudly Cincinnati campaign, celebrated the campaign’s halfway mark and achieved record-breaking faculty/staff campaign giving totals. I hope to build on these achievements and help bring the campaign to a successful conclusion through my efforts as Chairman.”
The UC Foundation has also elected four new members to its Board of Trustees: Carrie K. Hayden, Michael J. Paxton, Larry A. Sheakley and Sandra S. Wiesmann.

Carroll, president of The University of Cincinnati Foundation and vice president of development for the University of Cincinnati. “Their energy and dedication to UC will help us continue the momentum of our $1 billion Proudly Cincinnati Campaign.”
- Carrie Hayden is an avid community volunteer who has served as chairperson of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati since 2007 and is a member of the College of Medicine Advisory Board and the Proudly Cincinnati Barrett Cancer Center Campaign Committee.
- Michael Paxton, a graduate of the UC College of Business, is non-executive chairman of Transport Corporation of America.
- Larry Sheakley is president and CEO of the Sheakley Group, Inc.
- Sandra Wiesmann, a graduate of the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at University of Cincinnati and has spent more than 20 years at the American Federation of Teachers.
