Peer Leader Application Process
1. Apply at UC Jobs. Be prepared to upload your resume.
2. Complete additional questions in the form of a survey monkey. Think about how you would answer questions similar to the ones below (these sample questions will also help prepare you for an interview):
· Why do you want to be a Learning Community Peer Leader?
· Indicate three attributes that you believe an effective Learning Community Peer Leader needs to have. Rate yourself from 0 (very low) to 10 (extremely high in each) and provide reasons for your rating.
· Describe how a successful Learning Community works.
· How would you achieve ongoing student participation and engagement in the Learning Community?
· What are the attributes of an effective mentor? Why would you be an effective mentor for students in the Learning Community?
· Rate yourself as a student from 0 (poor) to 10 (outstanding). Provide reasons for your rating. What challenges do first year students face in regards to becoming outstanding students? Why and how would you positively impact students’ academic development?

3. Submit Two letters of recommendation Electronically to fye@uc.edu
· Submit two letters of recommendation that attest to your capabilities to be a Peer Leader.
· We suggest that you provide those who will write your letters with a copy of the Peer Leader job description.
· Letters must be submitted electronically by email with your name in the subject in ALL CAPS. Ex: PEER LEADER RECOMMENDATION JOHN DOE.
4. Interview Notifications.
· FYE staff will carefully review each application, resume and letters of recommendation. Candidates selected for an interview will receive notification by email or phone. Please check your email regularly. Interviews will begin in early February.
5. After the interviews, FYE staff will make selections and placements according to the attributes of candidates and LC needs.
6. You will receive an email notification letting you know whether or not you have been hired.
