The Gen-1 application deadline is February 15, and you must apply to UC by February 1 to be considered for Gen-1!  

Gen-1 Program Application Information

Please submit the application along with all of the information listed below as part of the Gen-1 Application process. If selected to go to the next stage in the process, a personal interview will be required. Please contact us at if you have any questions.


Required Information

Who is eligible?

  1. First-generation (Definition: Neither parent has completed a Bachelor’s degree within 6 years of high school graduation) 
  2. Pell-eligible (determined by FAFSA
  3. Admitted to UC and seeking a Bachelor’s degree- UC Blue Ash students must be willing to transfer and complete a Bachelor degree **YOU MUST BE ACCEPTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI, TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE GEN-1 PROGRAM**

How to apply to Gen-1

  1. How to apply to Gen-1? 
  2. Complete and submit UC Admissions Application by February 1 
  3. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  4. Complete and submit the Gen-1 Application by February 15 (Scroll down for application)

Gen-1 application includes:

  1. Completed UC Common Application 
  2. Respond to Common Application Essay Prompt #2 
  3. Submit TWO letters of recommendation through the Common Application
  4. Gen-1 Online Application 
  5. Complete your FAFSA 
  6. Confirm that you are Pell-eligible 
  7. **Gen-1 Applicant: your essay and TWO letters of recommendations MUST be submitted through the UC Common Application!**
