Constitution of the University of Cincinnati Geology Club

Article I - Name and Purpose

Section 1 - Name
The name of this organization shall be known as the University of Cincinnati Geology Club.

Section 2 - Purpose
The University of Cincinnati Geology Club is a student organization designed to initiate, cultivate, and conserve a professional and casual interest invgeology. The University of Cincinnati Geology Club's foremost purpose is tovprovide an opportunity for discovery, experience, and enjoyment in geology.

Article II
- Membership

Membership is open to all students of the University of Cincinnati that exhibit an active interest in geology. Active membership shall be open to all students enrolled full or part time, graduate or undergraduate, in any college or branch of the University of Cincinnati and Alumni and Faculty.

Article III - Officers

Section 1 - The officers of the Geology Club shall include a President, Vice-President, Graduate Representative, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Coordinator, Activities Coordinator, and a Faculty Representative/Sponsor.
Section 2 - In order to run for office in your respective organization you must have a 2.0 or above accumulative GPA. While in office the officer must maintain a 2.0 accumulative GPA and must not have below 2.0 for more than one quarter. Officer must be a matriculated student and be in good standing with his or her college.
Section 3 - All officers serve for a term of One (1) year or until their successors shall be duly elected and qualified.

Article IV
- Meetings

Regularly scheduled Geology Club meetings as well as Executive meetings are held as determined by the Executive Council.

Article V - Amendments

Amendments to this Constitution may be proposed by a member and shall be voted upon at the next meeting of the Geology Club following notice of such proposed amendment to the voting members. Amendments to this Constitution shall be the affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of all voting members and with the approval of the appropriate governing board.

Article VI - Impeachment and Dismissal

Section 1 - Cause for Impeachment
Impeachment proceedings may be initiated for any of the following charges:
1. Inability to carry out duties of the office.
2. Excessive absence or tardiness.
3. Unlawful behavior.
4. Behavior inconsistent with the ideal or image of the Geology Club.

Section 2 - Impeachment Proceedings

Part A Impeachment Initiation
Impeachment may be brought to the floor by any active member of the Geology Club. The defendant may argue his or her case before the Geology Club.

Part B Impeachment Voting
In the case of a vote by Executive Council, the council must vote unanimously for the impeachment to occur. In the case of a full Geology Club vote, three-fourths of the Club present must vote favorably for impeachment to occur. In either case, the defendant does not get a vote.

Article I - Elections & Installation of Officers

Section I - Elections

Elections shall be held at the end of Spring Quarter.



Article II - Officer Duties

Section 1 - President
The President will preside over all meetings, will fill all vacancies in elected offices and appoint officers with the advice and consent of the rest of Executive Council, and will assume all other duties required of the President.

Section 2 Vice President
The duty of the Vice President is to assist the president in all that he/she asks, and will assume all other duties required of the Vice President.

Section 3 - Graduate Representative
The duty of the Graduate Representative is to provide a link between the Geology Club and the Graduate Students, and will assume all other duties required of the Graduate Representative.

Section 4 - Secretary

The duties of the Secretary are to take and record minutes of every Geology Club meeting, and will assume all other duties required of the Secretary.

Section 5 - Treasurer

The Treasurer will prepare financial statements, will prepare a yearly budget, will maintain contact with the Undergraduate Funding Board and all affiliated offices, will have financial records available for inspection at all times, will administer funds, and will assume all other duties required of the Treasurer.

Section 6 - Publicity Coordinator

The Publicity Coordinator will publicize all events of the Geology Club, post any necessary bulletins, and will assume all other duties required of the Publicity Coordinator.

Section 7 - Activities Coordinaton
The Activities Coordinator will coordinate all social activities for the Geology Club

Section 8 - Faculty Representative/Sponsor
The Faculty Representative/Sponsor shall be a faculty member of the University of Cincinnati Department of Geology.
