IGSA Individual Faculty Grants

IGSA offers individual Faculty and Administrator grants for up to $1000 to support the University of Cincinnati's Globalization initiative. All full-time UC faculty, administrators, and part-time faculty with recurring appointments are eligible to apply. Because of reduced funding this year, projects typically involve accompanying students on a trip abroad. In all cases, faculty applications must show how the grant will internationalize curriculum at the University of Cincinnati.

Beginning in Spring, 2003, all grant applications must be submitted on-line.

Education Abroad Support Fund

What is the Education Abroad Support Fund?

The Education Abroad Support Program helps departments develop innovative study abroad programs. The Program provides information, training and financial support. The goals of the Program are:

  • To increase the number and diversity of UC’s overseas programs;

  • To lower program costs to students;

  • To increase the numbers of students participating;

  • To build faculty and departmental capacity for international programs; and

  • To encourage curricular innovation.

WHAT EDUCATION ABROAD PROGRAMS ARE ELIGIBLE?
Generally speaking, any UC educational program which meets our basic criteria is eligible for support:

  • The program must take place outside the US and have a global or international purpose.
  • The program must be sponsored by a UC academic department, and offered for academic credit.
  • The program must be planned and managed by UC faculty in collaboration with IGSA.
  • The program must be open to –- and primarily intended for -- UC students.
  • Most if not all of the UC students participating in the program must be paying tuition.

    Funding depends on the availability of funds, cost of program and types of expenses associated with the program.

Deadlines
December 15, 2004 - For programs taking place June 1, 2005 through May 31, 2006.

Institutional Collaboration Agreements (ICA)

Institutional Collaboration Agreements allow academic institutions to craft formal agreements to work together in the areas of student and faculty exchanges, and research. This document outlines the two-step process in setting up a collaboration agreement and implementing it at the program or departmental level. Please note that we now require an Activity Agreement to accompany the Collaboration Agreement. We are happy to work with you to devise an agreement that will show measurable success and upon which we can continue to build in the future. Please contact Susan Bacon or call 556-4402 to discuss.

Please download the Guidelines and template for the Institutional Collaboration Agreement in .pdf or in .doc format

Fulbright Grants

"The Fulbright Program was established in 1946, at the end of World War II, to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. Its primary source of funding is an annual appropriation made by the United States Department of State. Participating governments and host institutions also contribute financial support through direct cost-sharing, as well as through tuition waivers, university housing, and other benefits."

Grants are made to citizens of participating countries, primarily for:

  • university teaching;

  • advanced research

  • graduate study

  • teaching in elementary and secondary schools
