Financial Planning
Undergraduate students studying abroad on any type of credit-bearing program can use their financial aid, such as federal and state aid, grants, loans, scholarships, and even tuition remission, making it very affordable for students to study abroad.
Unfortunately, Graduate Student UGS awards cannot apply to education abroad programs. However, both graduate and undergraduate students can be eligible for the UC International Student Grant.
Financial Aid and Tuition Remisson
In order to apply their financial aid or tuition remission to a non-UC program, students must register full time for a study abroad course and complete the Financial Aid Consortium Agreement so that Student Accounts can process the payments. Payment will be made either directly to the program abroad or to the student’s UC account; however, it is the student’s responsibility to satisfy their financial obligations with the study abroad program provider.
Please contact Jill Winograd or Karen Ramos at UC International Programs or Kitty Heard at Financial Aid Office with questions about student financial aid.
