Concepción, Chile
This course is an on site experience of Latin American culture and history. Students spend 10 days in Chile during Winter Break. During this time they visit three important regions in Chile: Santiago, Valparaiso and Concepción. Activities include forums with local students, along with visits to museums, local companies, a coal mining town, local markets, a vineyard and other areas of interest. Additionally, during their time in Concepción UC students have home-stays with the families of Chilean students they visit. The objectives of this course include: 1) To promote appreciation of Latin American culture through various cultural features, such as history, arts, language, society and cultural values; 2) To broaden global perspectives through direct experience. Open to all UC students.
Note: the Study Abroad Program in Chile will not be offered December 2007. We will offer this course again December 2008.
