Math and Architecture of the Ancient Maya Civilization
This honors program is a hybrid course, taking an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the Maya Civilization. Topics will include Maya astronomy, geometry, architecture, and history. A capstone experience will involve a trip to Chiapas, Mexico to visit the ruins of Palenque, Plan de Ayutla and Yaxchilan. The Maya Exploration Center will be coordinating and hosting the activities in Mexico.
This course will be offered Spring 2008 with the trip to Chiapas scheduled for the week following finals and commencement. (Trip dates: June June 15 – 22, 2008)
