This program originated based on the common research focus of three art education faculty in community-based art education research and practice, Dr. Leda Guimarães from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Dr. Vesta Daniel from the Ohio State University (OSU), and Dr. Flavia Bastos (UC). The idea for the program originated from reflections about the impact of local and international perspectives in training art and education students about community-based practices.
The program involves activities at the University, community, local schools and visits to nearby areas of interest. The 2006 program will unfold during two weeks. Participating graduate students will define a specific area of research to pursue and complete and report on their studies upon our return in the summer.
