College of Education is planning to take a Study Abroad group to Cartagena, Colombia during first summer session 2006.
The course to be offered this summer will be Sociopolitical Issues in Adult/International TESL, which deals with educational policies related to language learning (first, second and foreign language education; bilingual and multicultural education; standards and accreditation) and the sociopolitical forces that affect them. The course number is 18-LTCY-702-707.
Cartagena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is quite safe, not at all like the troubled areas in other regions of Colombia. Cartagena was one of the three original Spanish Caribbean port cities and offers both an extensive historical district and a modern beach area.
