Urban sustainability in Action, Curitiba, Brazil
Curitiba, a metropolitan area of approximately four million people, is the capital of the state of Parana, in the south of Brazil. One of the major historic cities of the country, Curitiba is also world-famous for its planning innovations, its sustainable development programs, its modern local government organization and its designation as the United Nations sustainability capital of the world.
During this visit the group travels to many important destinations in and around Curitiba, including wildlife preserves and environmental protection areas, low income and new community housing developments, the world-renown public transportation system of the metropolitan region, and the incredible cataracts of the Foz do Iguassu, on the border with Argentina and Paraguay.
