Message from IFC VP Recruitment
Welcome to the University of Cincinnati! Your tenure as a Bearcat has just begun and along with it comes a multitude of opportunities to grow outside of the classroom, as well as in it. My name is Jim Perry, and I would like to welcome and extend an invitation to you to explore a community that has shaped me immensely: Greek Life and the Interfraternity Council (IFC).
Greek Life at the University of Cincinnati is vastly unique; our mission is to create environments where people can become the best forms of themselves and provide them tools for future success. Within our IFC community are 23 different fraternities, each with a unique identity and a one-of-a-kind brotherhood. Additionally, each year fraternities at UC provide students with over $29,000 in scholarship money! If you receive this money, but are not interested in joining Greek Life, don’t worry; being awarded one of these scholarships does not oblige you to join a brotherhood.
Recruitment for IFC is informal, but this year UC is doing it a bit differently. We would like to ask you to register for recruitment via campuslink so that we can keep in touch with you and get you information about events easily. Recruitment is year round, but there are two weeks (one in the Spring and one in the Fall) specifically dedicated to rushing a fraternities. Fall Rush Week is set for the week of September 22 – 29, 2017. Be sure to check out the “Go Greek!” Info Session and the IFC Showcase events so that you can find your home away from home!
Go Greek because it is a great way to get involved in your community, create bonds that will last a lifetime, and you can also tell Mom and Dad that you can get scholarship money from it!
More About Recruitment
Interfraternity Council (IFC) fraternity recruitment is informal. However, this year we ask that you register for recruitment via campuslink. This will allow us to communicate with you about upcoming events and importatnt information!
There is no obligation to participate in events and individual fraternities plan many of their own recruitment activities. The IFC Recruitment Team provides a number of all-fraternity recruitment events, all voluntary to participate, but great opportunities to meet fraternity men and learn about each fraternity.
Go to the Go Greek! Info Session and IFC Recruitment Info Sessions. Most IFC fraternities will host daily recruitment events September 22 - 29, 2017 during IFC Showcase Week!
Fraternities offer a “bid”: a formal invitation to an interested student to join their fraternity. You may receive invitations from multiple fraternities, and it's your choice to choose the fraternity that's right for you.
Many fraternities recruit all year, and will have new members join in the fall and spring. Fall semester, however, is the time most new members join IFC fraternities.
