Kristen Burwick was born in Toledo, OH but spent the majority of her childhood in Buffalo, NY. She did her undergraduate work at University of Rochester in Rochester, NY and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Neuroscience. She is currently a fourth year medical student at Ohio State, and is hoping to match in Ophthalmology this coming January. She has always had a strong interest in global health and is looking forward to spending a month in an urban hospital in Cape Town, South Africa this February working with HIV/AIDS patients. She is truly honored to be able to be a part of the 2009 Ride, and is looking forward to the ride and all the obstacles and experiences that will undoubtedly go with it!
