Douglas Smucker, M.D. is on faculty at the University of Cincinnati Department of Family Medicine. He currently co-directs the Initiative on Poverty, Justice, and Health. His interest are in local underserved populations, end-of-life geriatric care, and international health. Dr. Smucker helps direct the UC branch of Shoulder to Shoulder, an NGO dedicated to developing health programs to assist poor rural communities in Honduras achieve sustainable development and improve the overall health and well being of its residents. He also works closely with medical students to help increase their involvement in underserved communities and increase physician advovacy.
