ENGINEERING COMMITTEE

The Engineering Committee focuses on the technical design of the system and/or service that EWB-UCIN is providing for the community in need.  Additionally, the Engineering Committee is responsible for researching past projects from other chapters, assisting the fundraising committee in raising financial support for the chapter, researching new technologies and ideas that may benefit the project, and keep in close communication with the other committees to ensure proper budgeting, material selection, and project logistics.

In order to fulfill these responsibilities properly, the engineering committee takes full advantage of the skills and competencies of its members.  The committee is student led and professionally guided by the project Mentor and/or other experienced professionals.  Members of the Engineering Committee can expect to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Learn about economically, environmentally, and culturally sustainable projects.
  • Researching environmental, geographical, and technical details of project site.
  • Communicating closely with other committees to ensure safety, practicality, and sustainability of project.
  • Conducting a detailed site analysis, highlighting specific measurements and other technical details necessary to appropriately design the project.
  • Working closely with the fundraising committee to help maintain a budget.
  • With the guidance of the mentor(s), design an economically and environmentally sustainable system that meets the needs of the community.

Individuals who would like to join the Engineering Committee should contact EWB-UCIN to get plugged in.
