CONCERTS
The UCSO presents three concerts to the university community throughout the academic year. Each one is usually presented in the ninth week of each ten-week quarter (Autumn, Winter, and Spring).

The various small ensembles that form within the UCSO organization such as the UCSO Brass also have various other performing opportunities, such as at charity events and certain official university events.

UCSO Brass
The UCSO Brass perform in Old Saint George.

REPERTOIRE
The orchestra has played both traditional classical works as well as more modern pieces. For the serious classical players out there wondering, our music is from the College-Conservatory of Music's (CCM) Orchestral Performance Library, provided through the gracious support of Mark Gibson of the Orchestral Studies Department, who is also the music director of CCM's premier Philharmonia Orchestra. Thus, for most classical pieces, we play the same (and authentic, not arranged) material as CCM's ensembles. We also occasionally rent music from other sources, such as in spring 2005 when the orchestra performed a few opera selections with the UC Men's and Women's Choruses.

Horn players of the UCSO Past and current concert programs have included...
  • GEORGES BIZET: L'Arlésienne Suite MP3 of the "Intermezzo," played by the UCSO in Spring 2005!
  • GABRIEL FAURÉ: Pavane, Opus 50 Listen to an MP3 clip from the UCSO's Inaugural Concert.
  • FRANZ SCHUBERT: Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 "Unfinished"
