Serve Beyond Cincinnati strives to make all trips and experiences open and accessable to all students at the University of Cincinnati with a desire to make the world a better place. SBC is an independent organization started and controlled by students from various backgrounds. We do not have any official or unofficial affiliation with any religious organizations, ideals, beliefs, or policies. There are no requirements for joining. However, many individuals within the organization and executive committee do have individual affiliations with various religious and cultural entities outside of SBC which influence the person they are and how they interact with people around them.

It is our belief that any service organization should be open to all persons willing to help accomplish the goal of the project. We value and celebrate the fact that every person is an individual and has his or her own reasons and motivations for helping others. We will not exclude students based on age, sex, orientation, beliefs, religion, or any other factors which make one person different than the next. We want to know what makes you who you are and we want you to share that with others.

In addition, while SBC trips and events are taking place, no member of SBC will subject any participant to unwanted religious actions or pressure. It is important to realize, however, that many of the organizations and people SBC participants will encounter while on a trip will be directly affiliated with various religeous entities. It is often the case that these people's jobs and lifestyles cause them to interact with UC students and the group as if we shared in all of their beliefes. Possible events that could take place during an SBC trip include prayer before meals or prior to beginning work and church services. These events have optional attendance and participation but it is generally important to be respectful and experience as much of another culture as possible.
