CICC outplays UC for a spot in the MCT finals
(Venue: Ceraland Park Date: September 10)
On a cloudy day in Columbus IN, UC won the toss and elected to field. On a wet outfield, the new ball became softer as soon as play started and negated any swing for the new ball bowlers. Ameya starts off with some boundaries on the fast outfield.Deepak pulls back the initiative with two quick wickets. This brings Abhijeet and Ameya together in an aggressive partnership. With boundaries coming regularly, and plenty of ones and twos CICC are easily able to maintain a run-a ball scoring rate. Prahit bowls with a degree of control and Ameya is snapped up by Aravind to give UC a 3rd wicket. A dropped catch off Abhijeet at this point proves crucial as Abhijeet and Vishal score half centuries. CICC are able to score 100 runs in the last 11 overs as all bowlers leaked runs on a good wicket and fast outfield. CICC end up with 247 which is the highest total conceded by UC in 3 years.
UC begin the chase enterprisingly with Nabil and Srivatsan in good form. The openers race away to 70 runs before the first break with no wickets down putting UC in a good position. Srivatsan played some outstanding shots off the new ball and there was some sharp running between the wickets. Nabil gets out to a brute of a delivery from Joydeep. Abir and Aravind fall soon after leading to 3 quick wickets. Srivatsan gets run out to an ill judged single and UC are in trouble. Niranjan lends some respectability to the score with a few big shots, but his wicket means that there is too much work for the lower order to do. The CICC spinners pick up the last 4 wickets to fall.UC are bowled out for 150 and beaten comprehensively. CICC go to Columbus, OH to play the finals against CCC.
After winning MCT last year, UC's campaign fell just short of the finishing line this time. On the whole, this was a solid campaign for UC with some new faces emerging and taking up much of the responsibility. UC took solid steps towards staying a student driven team this year.

UCCC steadily cruise into semis with an all round performance
(Venue: VOA Park Date: August 27)
COBCA won the toss and elected to bat first. UCCC struck early with a sharp catch by Prabhu at gully of Deepak’s bowling to dismiss Abish. Anando and Aniket steadied the ship with some lusty blows keeping the run rate at six per over. Abir broke the partnership bowling Anando for 46. Nakul came in next and got set quickly hitting some beautiful shots all over the park. But when COBCA seemed to be taking control, Abir again was in action completing a spectacular running catch of Prahit’s bowling. Thereafter disciplined bowling by Abhinav, Abir and Prahit didn’t let the batsmen run away with the scoring. Abhinav finished with figures of 7–0-17-2 keeping COBCA down to 181 in 34.3 overs.
Chasing a par score, openers Nabil and Srivatsan got off to a good start without taking any sort of risks. They nudged 1s and 2s, keeping the run –rate in check before Nabil was caught behind of Nakul’s bowling for 21. Srivatsan continued his good form with Aravind for company at the other end. The COBCA slow bowlers started doing the trick and reduced the run flow which made the batsmen go after them and lose their wickets. Both Srivatsan and Aravind were stumped while losing their cool. With some panic in the UCCC dug out, Abir and Niranjan were in at the crease with 90 runs needed of 17 overs. They scored 35 runs together before Niranjan got out for 19. Wickets started falling at regular intervals even though runs were flowing steadily with Abir holding one end. UCCC were 163-6 when they lost Abir for 28. With 19 needed off 4 overs, senior statesman, Andya took control of the situation with Prabhu (half Andya’s age) at the other end, and UC won easily in the end with 9 balls to spare.

UCCC lose to KCCC despite a fighting display.(Quick Fire T-20)
(Venue: VOA Park Date: August 28)
On a bright Sunday morning at VOA Park, UC wins the toss and elects to bat in this T-20 fixture. Nabil and Srivathsan start the innings in a lively fashion with quick singles and a flurry of doubles. Nabil continues to be the accelerator even when Srivathsan walks off for only 7 runs in a 47 run opening stand. With Ketan joining Nabil at the crease, another solid partnership starts until Nabil is caught and bowled by Thiag after a well-made 57. Nabil played a wide range of shots lifting bowlers over the infield. Thiag, who bowled one change in the bowling line-up, was able to control the flow of runs to a decent extent. Ketan, who was later joined by Ashok, helped UCCC accelerate the scoring in the middle overs with crucial boundaries off Parth and Visvesh. Ketan later falls to Visvesh which brought Niranjan to the crease who scored a quick fire 29 with 3 huge sixes. Abhinav too joined the party at the death overs with some exciting stroke play setting a challenging target of 190 runs for KCCC to chase.
KCCC came out all guns blazing as they started off in a hurry scoring almost 10 runs per over with Thiag and Hari going berserk. A smart bit of bowling by Prabu helped UCCC break the opening stand of 59 runs between Thiag and Hari. Pirabu took no time to settle down as he joined Hari at the crease. Some delightful strokes were played during the middle overs though both batsmen had their share of luck with rather easy drop catches. Hari was later dismissed for 59 playing a sweep shot and top-edging to deep square leg. Though Abhinav had removed Ravneet and Pirabu, KCCC were pretty comfortable during the course of their chase. Srikanth and Visvesh gave the final touches to the chase amidst a fighting display from UCCC.
UC stumble after a string of victories.(Quick Fire T-20)
(Venue: University of Kentucky Date: August 21 )
On a bright and sunny day, UC travel to Lexington with 10 men as Ketan pulls out with an injury. UC wins the toss and elects to field first.
After a bright start from the UKCC openers, Prahit gets Rohit out caught behind. Prasanna comes in at No 3 and along with Vinod starts taking calculated risks against the UC bowlers. Just when UKCC seem to be motoring towards a huge total, Prahit comes to the rescue yet again by getting Prasanna’s wicket. Thanks to some brilliant bowling by Abhinav at the death, UC manage to restrict UKCC to a manageable 135 in 20 overs. Vinod timed his innings very well and remained unbeaten on 41.
UC needed a strong start to chase down 135 but that did not materialize as Nabil gets out in the second ball of the innings. Things start to unravel pretty fast for UC as wickets keep falling at regular intervals. A combination of good catching by the UKCC fielders and rash shot selection by UC batsmen reduces the score to an abysmal 12/6. Some lower order resistance coupled with a good knock from Prahit helps UC reach 99. UC tastes defeat for the first time in seven matches after falling 36 runs short of the target.
