Request a Did You Know (DYK)
To request a DYK, please send an e-mail to WebCommunications@uc.edu with "DYK Request" in the subject line. The e-mail should contain the following: - A headline for the DYK.
- Content to be featured under the headline.
- A URL that the DYK can be linked to.
- If one can be obtained, a good picture that is representative of the DYK.
- A short description of the picture.
Follow AP Stylebook and UC's Stylebook rules when writing text for DYKs.
In the headline, capitalize the first letter of each word, except for articles and
prepositions five letters or fewer, unless they’re the first or last
word.
Main Page DYK Specifications:
- Image: 135x70 pixels.
- Text: Max 5 lines total. Can accommodate a total of 17-21 characters for headline lines and 20-25 characters/line for content lines (depends upon where words break/wrap).
- 2 lines of headline + 3 content, or
- 1 line of headline + 4 content, or
- 3 lines of headline + 2 content (least desirable).
- Example:

Second-Level Page DYK Specifications:
- Image: 135x135 pixels.
- Text: Max 8 lines total. Can accommodate a total of up to about 28 characters for headline line and up to 35 characters for content lines.
- Headline should be no more than 2 lines, leaving up to 6 for content lines.
