During 1997-98, HERI used start-up funds for a number of purposes: to support research-related travel for HERI faculty; to maintain the HERI Internet home page on (see http:// ucaswww.mcm.uc.edu/communication/heri/heri.htm); to support development and submission of sponsored research proposals; and to design and promote a workshop. HERI has established a sales and service account with the University that allows for contract and fee-for-service work, such as technical reviews or educational workshops, to be done. In June, 1997, HERI members affiliated with the Center for Environmental Communication Studies (CECS), based in the Department of Communication, began to assist HERI in the expansion of its research and training capabilities. CECS continues to provide administrative support, including HERI meeting coordination and facilitation; and communication and marketing support, including the updating of promotional materials, producing the Annual Report, and workshop planning and logistics. Listed below is a summary of HERI expenditures and dollars received through the sales and service account.
