Submitting Honors Experiential Learning Project Proposals & Reflective Essays

Important Update for April 1st Submission Deadline:*

*UCIT is pushing out a fix to this issue this afternoon (4/1/13). We expect you to be able to upload files this evening. If for any reason you're still unable to upload a file this evening, please follow the steps below.

We are aware that some students have been unable to upload files to the honors database. If you’ve followed the submission instructions but your file was not successfully uploaded, please complete these steps:

  • Compose an email from your UC EMAIL ACCOUNT to your assigned UHP advisor with the subject: “April 1st Review Deadline Submission”
  • In the body of the message, please include your name and the project title associated with the document you are submitting
  • Upload the document as an attachment (do not paste the text of the document into the email) and send the email.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience the current database issues have caused. UCIT is currently working to solve the issue.

How to Submit a Proposal for Review and Approval:

  1. Pay close attention to the review cycle deadlines listed below.
  2. Students should seek approval prior to beginning a project in order to confirm that it meets University Honors standards. All of the elements detailed in the proposal form must be reflected in your honors experiential learning project proposal. Please use the experiential learning project proposal rubric to evaluate your proposal prior to submission; reviewers will use the same rubric to evaluate your proposal.
  3. All students should submit their proposals through the new UHP online database (there is also a portal on the main honors webpage).
  4. Log in to the database and click on "Tracking Project". Click "edit" to add a new file and input the title, dates of the project, and other requested information. Save the project.
  5. Click the "browse" button on the right side of the screen to upload your word document for your proposal.
  6. Click "email advisor" and the experience and proposal will be submitted. Be sure to read any messages that appear.
  7. If you submitted a budget for an honors grant in your proposal, you will receive a separate email from Tricia Yee (Tricia coordinates the grant award process).
  8. You should expect to receive feedback by the deadlines below.
  9. If revisions are requested, you should submit your revised proposal in the same manner (upload the document within the project on the UHP online database). Please make sure all file names are unique.

How to Submit a Reflective Essay for Review and Approval:

  1. Pay close attention to the review cycle deadlines listed below.
  2. For self-designed projects, students are required to complete and submit a reflective essay.
  3. To submit your reflective essay, log in to the UHP online database and click on "Tracking Project". Select the project you created when you submitted your proposal and click the "browse" button on the right side of the screen to upload the word document for your reflective essay.
  4. Click "email advisor" and the reflective essay will be submitted. Be sure to read any messages that appear.
  5. You should expect to receive feedback by the deadlines below.
  6. If revisions are requested, you should submit your revised reflective essay in the same manner (upload the document within the project on the UHP online database). Please make sure all file names are unique.
  7. In order to complete the experience, you also must thoughtfully document the experience in your learning portfolio. You should document your project and learning in your portfolio as described in the Reflection and Documentation Guide (students using iWebfolio may use the e-portfolio documentation guide).
