Creative Arts

Explore the depths of your imagination and innovation by producing original works of art, literature, music, dance, architecture, food...anything you can dream!  Pursue a passion for the creative arts inside and outside the classroom by transforming ideas and leaving your mark on the world.

We strongly encourage you to get involved in research and creative projects as an undergraduate.  As defined by the University, research includes not only intellectual activity designed to expand our knowledge and understanding of people and their environment, but also activities in any of the creative and performing arts aimed at interpreting and enhancing that environment.

Points to Consider for Writing Your Proposal

  • Connection to Academic Theories - What classes have you taken and what articles and books have you read to prepare yourself?  Is there anyone who is considered a trendsetter in your chosen medium who’s methods you will research?  In what other ways are you preparing for this experience?
  • Reflection - How will you be reflecting on your growth throughout the project?  Is a written essay the most appropriate final reflection exercise or would an alternate method of reflection better fit the project?
  • Budget - Your budget needs to reflect that you have a grasp on the expenses you will occur.  If you do not have the final numbers, then you need to at least have strong estimates. Please note, UHP cannot pay for equipment that you plan on keeping (e.g. cameras, easels, software, etc.)
  • If you are considering doing a creative arts experience in another country, you need to review our International Travel web page.
