Choice Benefits is a partnership between UC and its employees. We do everything we can to provide you with high-quality benefits at a reasonable cost to you and the university.
Employees represented by AAUP who have a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 65% or greater may enroll in the Choice Benefits program. Included in this benefits package are the core benefits of medical, dental, and life insurance for you and your eligible family members.
You may also take advantage of long term disability, tuition remission, long term care, and flexible spending accounts. The university works diligently to offer high-quality benefits to you and your family. |

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Medical coverage pays benefits for eligible medical expenses. The Choice Benefits program offers you three excellent medical plans, the health maintenance organization (HMO), the point-of-service (POS) and the First 1000. These plan options give you the flexibility to tailor a benefits package that meets your individual or your family’s needs. Information regarding the HMO and POS plans is available in the AAUP Enrollment Workbook. The Medical Coverage Comparison section in the workbook summarizes the benefits available under each medical plan. For more detailed information about your medical plan review the HMO Plan Document or the POS Plan Document.

DENTAL INSURANCE

Dental coverage helps you and your covered family members pay for eligible dental expenses. The Choice Benefits program offers you a selection between the Basic Plan and Ortho Plan. PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI)

Personal Accident Insurance provides you or your family with a benefit if a covered person dies as the result of an accident. This insurance also pays a partial benefit for the loss of a limb or eyesight as the result of an accident. Your beneficiary under this coverage is the same beneficiary you named for your employee life insurance. For more information on Personal Accident Insurance, refer to your AAUP Enrollment Workbook.
