Application - Tuition Remission

Applying for tuition remission is easy! Please see headings below for more information specific to you. 

Tuition remission applications (and accompanying documentation, if required) should be sent to: tuitionremission@uc.edu. Please allow 10 business days for processing.  Late fees may apply if you have not allowed for sufficient processing time and the term has started.

  • The Tuition Remission Application or Tuition Remission Affidavit and Affidavit Worksheet must be completed to request the benefit.
  • Your dependent’s Social Security Number must be stored in both UC Flex and Catalyst and the numbers must be the same in order for Tuition Remission to apply.  If your dependent did not provide his/her SSN as part of the UC application process, then he/she must provide it to the Registrar’s office.  You can enter your child’s SSN in UC Flex. 
  • The application is required for every academic year.
  • The application must be submitted along with the employee's most recent federal tax return showing child as tax dependent. Black out SSN and financial information.
  • An Affidavit must be submitted if the employee's child(ren) is not claimed as a tax dependent. The Affidavit worksheet must be completed as well.
  • A copy of the child(ren)'s birth certificate may be required with the initial tuition remission application.

Domestic Partner:
  • The Tuition Remission Application must be completed to request the benefit.
  • Your dependent’s Social Security Number must be stored in both UC Flex and Catalyst and the numbers must be the same in order for Tuition Remission to apply.  If your dependent did not provide his/her SSN as part of the UC application process, then he/she must provide it to the Registrar’s office.  You can enter your child’s SSN in UC Flex. 
  • The application is required for every academic year if the partnership has already been established.
  • For the first time requesting the benefit, please review Domestic Partner Coverage tab and sumbit other required documents.

Spouse:
  • The Tuition Remission application must be completed to request the benefit.
  • Your dependent’s Social Security Number must be stored in both UC Flex and Catalyst and the numbers must be the same in order for Tuition Remission to apply.  If your dependent did not provide his/her SSN as part of the UC application process, then he/she must provide it to the Registrar’s office.  You can enter your child’s SSN in UC Flex. 
  • The application is required for every academic year.
  • For the first time requesting the benefit, a copy of marriage certificate must be submitted.

  • Regular full-time∗ UC employees (faculty and staff) are generally NOT required to complete a Tuition Remission Application unless taking more than six hours in a semester. 
  • Employees requesting additional credit hours (more than six) should indicate the total number of credit hours (per term) requested and obtain authorization from the appropriate Vice President.

∗65-100% FTE - AAUP and COM GEO Med Faculty

∗75-100% FTE - Staff and Visiting Faculty

  • Regular part-time UC employees (staff) are NOT required to complete a tuition remission application.
  • Full-time Affiliated Faculty and ROTC employees are REQUIRED to complete the Tuition Remission Application. They must complete sections A and B and send to their designated Vice President for authorization in section C.

  • Term Adjuncts are REQUIRED to fill out Sections A and B of the Tuition Remission Application. Sections C must be completed by the department.

  • Post Doc Fellows are NOT required to complete a Tuition Remission Application.

Check Your Bill!

You will not receive a confirmation email. Employees and dependents must check their bills on the UCOneStop website.  In the event tuition remission is not being applied to your account, contact Human Resources at tuitionremission@uc.edu or 513-556-6381. Late fees will not be waived.
