Q: How do I register for a course? Expand
Q: Why is there a cost for some of the courses on offer? Expand
A: The fee charged is to cover the cost of the course materials for vendor owned courses (like those offered from DDI or Blanchard) only. The LLDC is not a profit generating team, therefore we are not making a profit from the charges incurred.
Q: Can I pay for a class myself? Expand
A: No. All associated fees for classes are charged back to the department and must have manager approval and department budget # on course registration form.
Q: When I complete a course, does it become part of my HR record? Expand
A: Yes. Once you sign the attendance roster in the class, the data is entered into our system and become part of your permanent employee record.
Q: Why are some courses cancelled? Expand
A: In order to maximize the learning experience and ensure the best ROI (return on investment), there is a minimum number of participants required for each course. If the minimum course size is not met, we will cancel the course and inform those who have registered. Participants are not charged for any course that is cancelled due to minimum course size not being met. These participants may then register for the next available offering.
Q: I do not have any direct reports, can I enroll in Leading Others courses? Expand
A: The courses in "Leading Others" are designed for people who are currently managing other employees. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for a consultation.
Q: Why must I obtain manager approval for LLDC course offerings? Expand
A: We believe in a collaborative approach to professional development. It is important that employees and managers discuss professional development opportunities to ensure success. Organizational leaders play a major role in reinforcing the skills, knowledge, and abilities employees learn by attending professional development programs.
Research shows that if leaders demonstrate active support, training will improve performance 90% of the time. In addition to management approval ensuring awareness and encouraging discussion, some courses have a minimal fee to cover participant materials. Management approval includes management providing departmental budget information on the employee's course registratino form to cover this cost. *We are not a for-profit team, therefore we do not make any profit off of any course fees.
