Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual
The Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual has been prepared to provide staff with policies and procedures necessary to their functions in carrying out the teaching, research, and service missions of the University.
Generally, the contents of the Policies and Procedures Manual apply to non-union, non-faculty, staff members. These employees may be in Classified or Unclassified service positions.
About this Manual This manual does not create an expressed or implied contract of employment. No one at the University can enter into an employment contract unless authorized by the Board of Trustees, and unless the contract has been reduced to writing and signed by an authorized administrator. This manual has been prepared by Human Resources to set forth the polices, procedures, benefits, and obligations that relate to employment at the University of Cincinnati. The information contained in this manual is necessarily brief and is subject to change. It does not and cannot amend or modify any applicable provision of federal or state law or the rules of the University (available for your examination at the Office of the Secretary of the Board of Trustees on campus, or the Board of Trustees website). While every attempt has been made to insure that the information in this manual accurately describes the rules and policies of the university, if there is a discrepancy, the rules of the university shall prevail.
If there are questions that this manual does not answer, additional information is available upon request, from Labor Relations and Policy Development by calling (513) 556-6372 or via email. This is a living document and will be revised on-line as new information is added. The University retains the right to modify, amend, or supplement the information in this handbook. If you are represented by an exclusive employee organization, the provisions of the union contract applicable to your position will apply when they differ from those described in this manual.
