Increase to Retirement Contributions for Faculty
Employee contributions to UC’s retirement plans will increase effective July 1, 2014. The increase will affect faculty enrolled in the Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) and Grandfathered Plan (Fidelity, TIAA, Vanguard).
Employee contributions to all STRS plans and the ARP will increase from 11 percent to 12 percent on July 1.
Employee contributions for faculty enrolled in the Grandfathered Plan (TIAA, Vanguard or Fidelity) will also increase beginning on July 1, 2014 as outlined below.
Faculty Member Contribution
First $8,000 of salary
9.05% (currently 8.05%)
Salary between $8,000 and $16,500
13.05% (currently 12.05%)
Salary over $16,500
9.50% (currently 8.50%)
There is no change to the employer contribution or mitigating rate (applicable to ARP and STRS defined contribution plan participants).
