Integrated Learning Experiential Assessment Program (I-LEAP)

I-LEAP is an innovative experiential learning assessment instrument that gathers external reviewers' observations of undergraduate student learning outcomes and skills as demonstrated in contextual learning environments.
The founder of cooperative education, the University of Cincinnati continues to innovate and expand in the realm of experiential education. From foundations in co-op, experiential education now encompasses an array of pedagogies, including field projects, clinical/practicum experiences, study abroad, service learning, and student research. In fact, this "reality learning" is required by the University’s General Education Core program to be a component in each student’s undergraduate experience.
The I-LEAP Benefits: Students are the Winners!
-
We will have the ability to track student progress in different disciplines and types of experiential learning, to see their transformation in relationship to these great experiences.
-
The data provided by I-LEAP is a rich source of information to drive curricular improvement strategies.
-
The multiple external reviewers (such as co-op employers, faculty, community partners, peer leaders, and undergraduate research mentors) increases our sources of validation of student achievement.
-
I-LEAP goes beyond a "performance evaluation". The General Education Core competencies (Critical Thinking, Effective Communication, Knowledge Integration, Social Responsibility) are also assessed, along with leadership, accountability, responsibility, teamwork, and more.
