Black Client Events Set for June 8-9

The 15th Annual Black Client Workshop, co-sponsored by UC and the Health Alliance, will take place at 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at the Albert B. Sabin Convention Center.

An awards banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the Regal Cincinnati Hotel.

The theme of this year's workshop is "Community and Organizational Issues that Impact a Just Community." The keynote speakers are Michael Eric Dyson, professor at Columbia University's Institute for Research in African American Studies, who will speak on issues that impact a just community, and Jawanza Kunjufu, renowned educator and president of African American Images, a successful Chicago-based communication company, who will discuss lessons from history. The Black Client Workshop will make special presentations to Alvin Crawford, MD, UC professor of pediatrics and pediatric orthopedic surgery and head of pediatric orthopedics at Children's Hospital Medical Center; George Hale, MD, a general practitioner; Bettie Hinton, CEO/president of Children's Protective Services/Families Forward; and William L. Mallory Sr., retired majority of the House leader (Ohio).

Admission for the workshop only is:
$60 (students)
$100 (UC and Alliance staff)
$130 (general public)
