| Campaign Counts Down to Success
Date: June 9, 2000 By: Chris Curran Phone: (513) 556-1806 Archive: Campus News The UC Foundation is nearing the end of a five-year comprehensive fund-raising campaign, which began in 1995 with the goal of attracting $300 million in donations. The Campaign for UC officially ends Friday, June 30, but there are many signs already that the campaign will be a tremendous success. More than 75,000 individuals, corporations and foundations have contributed so far. Richard Bauer, executive director of the Foundation and vice president for Development, said, "We have already passed the goal, and UC faculty and staff played an important role in our success." Approximately 2,000 faculty and staff and their spouses made gifts during the campaign, contributing more than $18 million toward the goal. Alumni donors spanned the decades, with the Class of 1974 leading the way. That class had the most donor graduates, 1,211. The oldest donor graduate came from the Class of 1908. Early reports from the campaign also indicate that UC's alumni and donor base is growing nationwide. Five states beyond Ohio all had more than 1,000 donors each. Ohio, not surprisingly, provided the greatest support with nearly 51,000 donors contributing to the current campaign. The success of the Campaign for UC will be celebrated in several ways, including a Presidential Ball scheduled for October 21. |
